Good Samaritan Struck, Killed Assisting Others On I-84 In Hartford County

State police are asking the public for help after a man, who was assisting people following a crash, was hit and killed in Connecticut.

Andy Azab, of Oakville, an enclave of Watertown in Litchfield County, was hit by a Nissan Altima while attempting to help at another crash scene on I-84 in Hartford County, in Southington.

State police said the accident happened around 6:30 p.m., on Tuesday, July 6 near the Exit 28 on-ramp, when Azab, age 62, was standing in the travel portion of the highway.

Azab was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead, state police said.

No one else was injured.

State police are investigating and ask anyone with information or dashcam video to call Trooper John Wilson at 860-534-1098 or email john.wilson@ct.gov.
